First settled in 1639, Dennis was then part of the town of Yarmouth Cape Cod. Dennis was finally incorporated in 1793. Dennis was named an all American town in 1978. The town was named after a favorite minister Josiah Dennis whose home was is located on 77 Nobscusset Road off the historical Olde King James Highway in Dennis. Dennis is located northeast of Brewster, west of Yarmouth and southeast of Harwich.
Dennis has five villages, Dennis, East Dennis, South Dennis, West Dennis and Dennisport. It has beautiful beaches on both Nantucket Sound Nantucket Sound and Cape Cod Bay offering spectacular sunsets. The Cape Cod Rail Trail begins in Dennis- it's a lot of fun!
